I'm a bit of a fan of the Universe Builders series (link in comments) and am looking for a book like that, where the protagonist is a literal god, capable of wielding vast cosmic power, and so forth. This series does it incredibly well, I think, with an interesting setting, interesting protagonists and other characters, and interesting plots. It even succeeds at giving its characters actual problems they can't just wipe out with nigh-omnipotent power
But, unfortunately, books with god-protagonists seem far and few between- and with good reason; I think it's generally rather difficult to give them actual obstacles to overcome. But of the ones I have found seem to tend towards "I am not a god, but have been tasked by an actual (and gratuitously sexualized) goddess to use video-game logic to ostensibly become a god by the end of the series," or something similar. Seriously, I don't get why they all use video-game logic to achieve it; maybe it's just an algorithm thing, now
But it's got me worried that the Universe Builder books have set the bar rather high for that kind of book, and that there won't be much else to scratch that itch for me. Do y'all have any recommendations?

(And [a link for the Universe Builders](https://theuniversebuilders.com/book-table/), in case anyone wants to know what I’m talking about or anything)
“Lord of Light” by Roger Zelzany kinda fits what you’re looking for, though it’s not as straightforward as the characters being gods.
It’s basically about a human space crew gaining god-like powers and reigning over a native alien species as gods, and the protagonist is one of these individuals. He rejects his role as a god to rebel against the others and becomes more of a Buddha parallel. It’s an interesting book.
