The Caine Mutiny, a Pulitzer prize winning novel from the 1950's is well worth reading today. Made into a movie, featuring Humphrey Bogart, and part it of made into a play, it has an enduringing place in our cultural fabric. A tale of wartime shipboard life, it gives a detailed picture of the stresses and challenges involved when large events are part of the atmosphere but where small events loom large, and for that alone it is worth reading. But most of all is it a master class in subtle manipulation and a compelling courtroom drama. If you have never read it give it a try.
