I’m looking for recommendations for young – mid teens! My partner and I are collecting books for our local children’s hospital and are looking for recommendations for the older kiddos at the hospital! We are looking for books that do not have anything about death or dying, illness or disease, or sexual references as these topics may be extremely triggering for the kids! If anyone has any recommendations for good books we can donate to these kids we would greatly appreciate it!

*Private Owens: A George Owens Novel* is a pretty clean read. It takes a WWII novel, morphs it into paintball, following a thirteen-year-old boy who starts out in a rut in life but finds meaning at the end.
Try also the Swallows and Amazons series. Some of the best books ever written.
The Percy Jackson and sequel series would be a great choice.
They’re written for a younger audience but they have a compelling story that’s interesting to read.
This series helped me greatly with my own mental struggles, so I strongly recommend.
I’d say anything written by Riordan is safe.
