Hi all, could you please suggest me a book having this set of features? (and not having the other set because the first one could make suggestions drift towards a place I'm not fond of)
It's okay if you don't have the first items but only most of the rest.
I'm looking for a novel with:
- A coming-of-age story or a teenager as the main character.
- A problematic situation, possibly taboo or inappropriate, at least suspicious.
- An uneasy book for the reader, with provocation and/or a content that challenges their morals.
- A book that can be funny at times or with lighthearted moments.
- A book with failures or tragic moments.
- LGBTQIA main or prominent characters welcome.
- Lots of dialogue / mostly dialogue.
- Character driven, with an emphasis on emotions and personal experience.
- Complex story with many facets, hard to summarize.
- More provocation. And humor.
- Kindred spirits, good alchemy between protagonists.
- Contrasted buddies who tag along on leisure activities. Age gap and/or opposite traits.
- Themes: love, soul mate, loneliness, place of oneself in the universe, beliefs, identity, happiness.
- Recent and lesser known books are even better.
What I don't need or don't want:
- No sex scene needed. Talking about desire is fine.
- No predator, and no need for a vilain.
- No scene with people enduring gruesome suffering (torture, rape, etc).
- No 'smut' for the sake of it, but steamy moments are fine.
- Not made to tillate anyone or to be used as fantasies material (knowing that what readers think is out of author's control).
