Our cousins over in /r/movies have been doing this thing, where everyone chooses their favorite movie by state. I figure, hey, that ain't so bad, and I've been reading Under the Dome who's got Maine balled up tight and screwed up its ass. Is that a saying? It is now.
They started with Hawaii, but screw em' I like the cold. So let's go with Alaska.
Now, for some reason, I haven't read many books set in Alaska. Maybe it's the cold, freezing the fingers and they can't type, the books get stuck up somewhere around the superior parietal cortex, and swirl around in there until they spit out shit like, The Great Alone.
God that book sucked. My choice is White Fang by Jack London. I won't let the fact that I haven't read it in 25 years stop me from choosing it either. I'm a little scared there's some messed up shit in there that I missed as a kid, and I don't want to go back and ruin the charm.
So go on, tell me your favorite book set in Alaska. And I swear, if nobody bloody posts nothing I'll do it myself, unless I get bored of it and wander away from the keyboard.
