I always have to go for paperbacks myself, they feel so much nicer and more comfortable to hold… not to mention cheaper.
I am also all about bending the spine when Im reading… as a way to make my books feel properly 'read', I dont care for keeping them totally pristine.
Hardbacks feel way too 'formal' for my liking 🤮
Its annoying because sometimes I'll want to buy a book and its only available in hardback and I feel like I just simply can't buy it!
One day I *might* get a Kindle… but I think iPads and audiobooks are just totally aren't an option for me
Anybody else?

Hardback feels alot better to me, but the uppricing is not worth it
I am more or less the same. I always prefer buying paperbacks, price being a factor but also I don’t love reading on harcovers, I feel it’s not as comfortable for me.
The only advantage harcovers have for me is how pretty they look on a bookshelf but I still always go for paperback
Personally, I definitely won’t be able to. For me, hardcover books are something important and native. On the contrary, for me, paperbacks seem too wrong and associations with those books that are bought in order to read on the train, and then they are forgotten about. But soft ones are cheap, and that’s why I often buy them, but my favorites are always in hardcover and in a cover so as not to get dirty. Also, I can’t bend books, for me it’s not respect for books.
