I prefer to read fantasy and sci-fi series set over numerous books. I'm not a big fan of reading a story that starts and ends in a single book.

A few of my favorites have been:

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind

    The Witcher series

    The Game of Thrones series

The Nightlord series by Garon Whited

The Magicians series by Lev Grossman

The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie

The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Mass

The Hyperion series by Dan Simmons

The Emperors Edge series by Lindsay Buroker

The Society of the Sword series by Duncan M. Hamilton

The Enders Game series by Orson Scott Card

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King

The Angels and Demons series by Dan Brown

And A Darker Shade of Magic series by V. E. Schwab.

There's a lot more but that should give a decent idea of what I like if you've read any of those.

If anyone has some recommendations I'd really appreciate it. I'm currently reading book 8 of the Nightlord series and I've got nothing else lined up for when I finish.

    1. Including the _Empire of the East_ books, Saberhagen’s _Book of Swords_ is 15 books. It’s very pulpy, but a great time the whole way through.

_Vorkosigan Saga_ is 16 books, and widely considered one of the all-time greats of sci-fi.

    2. The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb.

I believe it’s 16 books total consisting of multiple trilogies and a tetralogy.

    3. Check out Brandon Sanderson or Robert Jordan, maybe even Jim Butcher‘s Dresden Files

If you consider related works, Patrick Rothfuss’s *The Kingkiller Chronicle* is rather long-running

The same with Kendare Blake’s *Three Dark Crowns,* Jordan Rivet’s *Steel and Fire*, and Brandon Sanderson’s *Mistborn*

    7. I think it’s got to be one of the longest-running fantasy series

    8. Fantasy The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Sci fi The Honor Harrington series by David Weber

Second The Dresden Files. Great series.

Dies the Fire series by S M Stirling. There are 16 books. The first three tell the original story and the rest continue on thru the next two generations.

If you’re into space operas, I just finished Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson. Lots of sarcasm and dialog. Lots of pop-culture references.

The premise is Earth is invaded by an alien species, another alien species comes to our rescue and chases them off. In our gratitude, we ally ourselves with them and send soldiers to fight in their intergalactic war. The story focuses on Joe Bishop, the guy who is always in the right place at the right time. He ends up on an alien world, meets an asshole AI who he names Skippy, and then they go about disrupting everything for everyone.

There’s 15 books, along with several story-adjacent books. If you’re into audiobooks, I fully recommend them! R.C. Bray does a great job and his interpretation of Skippy is just 🤌
