When I listen audiobooks (or any podcast, YouTube video etc), I listen at 2x (using third party, sometimes 2x or 3x for slow speaking)

Although I’m not able to deep think what I listened, the meanings naturally flow with immediate understanding and also builds the overall context and image.

But when I read physical books, I have never had that fluidity like listening. I basically have to chew every meaning of each word/phrase, and after reading each sentences, have to ponder even sentences that aren’t that deep. The mental energy required to build an overall image is so much exhausting.

Funny thing is, there isn’t much a big difference between physically reading difficult non fiction books and somewhat easygoing (even YA) novels. Although I’m able to absorb difficult matters without much trouble, I can’t seem to read the most light, easy sentences without taking it so seriously, slowly.

Anyone who has similar troubles like this? Is there an easy way to read more lightly and faster than being so slow and serious?
