Used to only read fantasy novels from like Brandon Sanderson or just popular novels and classic literatures (all the lights we cannot see, the grapes of wrath, some Alice Monroe from time to time, etc.) But last week I read Joan Didion’s “Slouching towards Bethelhem” and I was completely mesmerized by her words and how she tells stories.

However I’m not particularly the most knowledgeable on these type of essay collection books, so what is there on the table for a beginner like me? It doesn’t have to necessarily be exactly like Joan Didion, but I hope it can at least be about something that you really enjoyed and has maybe changed how you view life in certain ways.
