I recently read Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and I’m Thinking of Ending Things. Enjoyed both, but especially Things Have Gotten Worse with how disturbing and unexpected the storyline was. They were unlike any other books I have read with the off putting, can’t put my finger on what’s wrong vibe. Looking for some similar book suggestions.

I got a disturbing vibe from {{The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty}}.
Shirley Jackson books in general, especially “we have always lived in the castle” and “hangsaman“. “American psycho” is very offputting as well
Pretty much anything by Bret Easton Ellis, especially American Psycho or Lunar Park.
Anything by Dmytro Kolesnyk. If you’re looking for a complex, unsettling narrative try “Ninjas In My Bedroom”.

The Eyes are the Best Part fits this description exactly. I used the word unsettling to describe it to other people. But it’s so good!
