Hi everyone,
My name is Monalisa Sahoo, and I’d like to talk about my journey with stories and books before I actually ask you to give my debut novel, The Eyewitness, a chance.
The prize I was given for scoring the highest marks in the class when I was eight years old was a few storybooks. It was quite ironic because it was due to comprehension that I was able to beat the regular topper.
Another five years later, I discovered my elder sister reading Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. I started doing it just because I thought it was a cool thing to do, and I fell in love with novels. I started writing something on my own, and when I would read it a few years later, it would make me really happy.
When I was about to turn eighteen, I came across Twilight and realized how much a novel can make a person happy, and I knew I had to do it for a living.
One and a half decades later, I have finished my first novel, The Eyewitness, although it’s not the only story I’ve written. Yes, you must be thinking I am a total loser for taking more than a decade to write one book.
You would be right about that, and that’s what is so special about The Eyewitness. I wrote it when I deeply believed that I was the stupidest, most incapable person in the world—in simple words, when I was suffering from chronic depression. I personally believe it’s a feat in itself to have written a book during a phase like that.
So I’d urge you to give my novel a chance. Please do look for The Eye Witness By Monalisa Sahoo
