I’m trying to find a happy medium where the romance doesn’t overtake the actual plot but where it still exists (and is well-written!) I thought the Winternight trilogy and the Daevabad trilogy both did this well. Also would be interested in any fantasy with LGBTQ+ romances. No YA though. Thanks!

I had one, but I’m not even sure it happens – Chronicles of Amber.
Perhaps, This is how you lose the time war. But not sure I’d qualify that as fantasy. More like science fiction
I’ve been reading the Dark Tower books by Stephen King. There are romantic elements. But the story is centered on the tower.
Have you read The Priory of the Orange Tree? Might be up your alley
Maybe *Legends and Lattes*? It’s rather light on plot in general, so not much to overtake – but the romance is a subplot, it’s queer, and it’s definitely a happy book.
**Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation** and **The Scum-Villain’s Self-Saving System** by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
**Books of the Raksura** by Martha Wells
*Daughter of Mystery, The Mystic Marriage, Mother of Souls* and *Floodtide* by Heather Rose Jones. There are a lot of plots going on in those in addition to the romances.
The Belgariad by David Endings might fit your bill.
