When I was a teen I got really into John Green books and I forced my dad to read The Fault in Our Stars. it took him a while, but eventually he got into it & genuinely enjoyed it—then we saw the movie together. I might've tried to get him to read other John Green books, but he only really finished and liked TFIOS.
Any recommendations? I don't think he necessarily wants to read YA books, but I feel like that's probably the most approachable age range for him getting into reading—he's never enjoyed reading for pleasure (or even finished a book) until TFIOS. I've thought about recommending him short classics, but I think he needs to be comfortable and enjoy reading itself before he gets interested in analysis, symbolism, etc.
