A couple years ago I read The Man in the High Castle, and I forget his name, but (spoiler) there is a Japanese businessman who commits murder and you get to read about the kind of five state he’s in, coping with his reality but it simultaneously falling apart around him in an absurd way. The book is also paranoid fiction so there is a good deal of different realities overlapping together.
Or “So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” or “Convenience Store Woman”, I think apart from characters coping with wrongdoing i also enjoy the sense of absurdity in particular. “Steppenwolf” or “The Metamorphosis” type beat.
