It’s not supposed to be a horror book (I think?) but I can’t finish Weyward by Emilia Hart because of one particular scene that scares the crap out of me. Way too real.

    2. {{The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson}}. The house preys on her lonliness and insecurities, which felt very authentic and resonated with me.

    3. Needful Things because I was (and still am) very much into baseball card collecting. And I was either in junior high/just started high school when I read it.

I also read some sort of vampire short story when I was in eighth grade that has had lasting effects. I don’t recall the name. But it involved a possibly female vampire flying into the windows to get at their victims. I think the story was either written and/or set in the 19th century. Caused me to have weeks of nightmares. Made me make sure to keep my neck covered at night and caused some sleepless nights. Additionally, all of my sleep paralysis involves being attacked by vampires. That only went away after I married my wife and now it involves her being a literal demon and her trying to smash my face into my pillow repeatedly while straddling my back.

    4. oh yeah currently reading pet semetary dont have kids and kind of want the wife to die because shes being so hysterical and has her had so far up her ass about something simple. but yeah maybe for me personally i dont have much experience beyond hearing my dead grandmothers footsteps for months after she died so whatever book might fit that criteria i guess. personally i like hack them slash them ghosts and supernatural creatures you dont get much personal experience with that do you?
