Mods, please do not remove the post. So apparently in my years as teacher : I came across students who are very low on confidence majorly due to how they and their parents look. I understand that as a teacher I always guide them into believing in themselves. I even read a few parenting and child psychology books. Now a student has gone to grad school and is convinced that by all standards he is ugly : by ugly he means something definitely not meeting standards of society. This student has always taken all my reading suggestions seriously. Manages to even discuss what he liked from the books.
So now! I want a book that makes him deal with his feelings about his looks. More than an advice book or self help book, I want to know if there are books that have a confidence storyline maybe or acceptance. I think it is acceptance of differences that will be like an initial step to loving oneself.

The Ugly Duckling.
On a serious note: “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky or “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio
Both fit into what you’re looking for.
