More specifically, books that are highly engaging?
Up through high school, I was a really prolific reader, even if the books I picked were garbage. Lots of action and adventure. I think I read the entire Jack Reacher catalogue, Stephen King, classics like Flowers for Algernon, and of course required readings like Animal farm and I fucking loved reading.
Then college happened which left me a lot less will to read after shifting through textbooks, then med school which left me absolutely no energy to turn another page after studying was over.
I have a lot of time now but I'm so burnt from school and so brain rotted from using my phone. What books do you recommend I pick up? I've started with some manga to keep my attention but I'm ready to move on to real books.

Are you looking for “light reading” or looking for engaging classics to challenge you a bit?
{{ Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk }}
If you like humor, anything by Christopher Moore, especially the Fool series (Fool, The Serpent of Venice, Shakespeare for Squirrels).
Blake Crouch’s Recursion is a standalone. Harlan Coben’s The Woods also a standalone page turner. Also… The Thursday Murder Club had me SUPER invested.
