Just an observation but it’s really amusing how everyone in this subreddit seems to think that libraries are just available to anyone, especially libraries with good selection of books.
Every time someone makes a post about their wishlist budget or the cost of books in general, all the comments are full of people telling them to just go to the library. Sometimes these kinds of comments make me feel like people here look down on people that actually spend a lot of money on books.
Sometimes I can’t help but find these comments quite funny since not only do the libraries in my country not even have any english books (translations of books other than classics don’t even exist in book stores) but a lot of neighbourhood libraries (including the one in my own) have been closed for years and the city library requires you to be a university student to access it. The thought of having easy access to any book i want whenever i want for free seems like more of a dream.
Now I’m not trying to say that just because I can’t access libraries no one can and we should stop talking about them, but i also think it would be nice to sometimes acknowledge the fact that not everyone has access to them.
(This could probably be worded better but i just needed to get these thoughts out)
