Hello everyone! My taste in fiction books has gotten far too snooty. I find myself only reading “the classics,” and I know I’m missing out on really good books that are being written right now. (For example, I had to be dragged kicking and screaming into reading Cormac McCarthy, who I of course now love.) What are some of your absolute favorite fiction books that have been written in the last 20 years?

The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen
The Galactic Football League series by Scott Sigler. It’s hard to be snooty with a series that’s about football in the future, despite how much depth the series actually has. Tons of action, great characters (including the MC who shows continuous growth), interesting alien physiologies, and a plot that gets progressively more layered.
