Detention center for teens (mainly male) ages 14-16. Most read well below grade level, probably 3rd-4th at the most. I've been buying graphic novels for their library and they're ready to branch out a little. Welcome to any suggestions, but also kind of want urban teen characters, street savvy. No explicit sex, violence or drugs allowed by facility. They're not afraid of romance, sports, characters that inspire. These are teens with much life experience, often involving foster care and trauma. They even like how-to or motivational books geared toward kids their age. As a teacher I once had a series that included several short lower level novels but now can't remember the titles. Please help!
