I am looking for self-help and guide book recommendations on how family members can better understand and support teens 13-18 years old who have experienced neglect, trauma, isolation, and loss of both parents.

I’d like to find books on better ways to communicate with teens who have experienced trauma, neglect, and loss, and how to provide them support.

    **Some topics to consider are:**

    How to grow trust.

How to notice signs of stress and how to help in the moment.

How to appropriately correct negative thinking and provide guidance or reframeing.

How to provide a safe and nurturing environment.

How to talk about tough topics if they come up.

How to help them grow self-confidence by encouraging passions, hobbies, and new experiences.

    Your recommendations are deeply appreciated.
    Thank you.

    1. The Body Keeps Score is a classic. Also consider the series of books by Dr. Nicole LePera- she deals a lot with childhood trauma/patterns of attachment.
