I’m looking for a novel, fantasy is fine, about an expedition.
A story about a person/group going to a strange new land – the story should focus more on the journey than the person – fantasy is fine.
Obviously not LotR, but something similar in nature.

The Green Book by Jill Paton Walsh
Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne
The ‘Cugel The Clever’ series by Jack Vance
Railsea by China Mieville. One of the most extraordinary novels I’ve ever read.
Sword of Shannara.
*The Time Machine* by H.G.Wells
Two of my favorites for that are hiking books: A Walk in the Woods and Wild, by Cheryl Strayed.
If you want a terrific non fiction book that reads like fiction, read Endurance by Alfred Lansing. The story of Earnest Shackleton is so incredible that you won’t believe that it is a true story.
{{The Adventures of Captain Hatteras}}
