'Gone Girl' or 'And Then There Were None'

This would be the first Mystery book I pick up. I'll be reading this on a very long flight so I need something with many twists that will keep me interested throughout the journey.

    Thank you

    1. And then there were none isn’t that good. I would recommend something like the maid, what lies between us, the drowning woman, perfect marriage, the quiet tenant, stranger in her house

And then there were none has stayed popular for reason, but it is an old book and that bothers some people more than others

    3. I was disappointed with And Then There Were None. Some of how the book ties together wasn’t very plausible to me.

I’m a fan of both Agatha Christie and Gillian Flynn so that’s a difficult choice.

Agatha Christie is the only author I collect so I can re-read, and I get the same enjoyment from her books each time.

I’m also a Gillian Flynn fan, when I read Gone Girl it became a favourite, I went on to read all of her books and am eagerly anticipating her next, due soon (fingers crossed). I read Gone Girl when new and fresh, before all the copycats…. but not everyone enjoys it.

Bring And Then There Were None on the journey if it’s long enough, then read Gone Girl.

Agatha Christie’s “And then there were none” is one of my favorite books of 2024. It introduced me to her as an author, and to crime books as a genre.

I never thought I’d like none of those two since I mostly enjoy fantasy and romcoms, but it came as such a surprise that I plan on reading more of her work.

It’s an easy summer read, intriguing and with a great ending. In fact, you know all the characters are going to end up dead, but you will not be able to put that book down.

Ever wondered why is it the most bought book in history? Just give it a go, and you’ll understand 😉

I would absolutely say And Then There Were None. Caveat: I haven’t read Gone Girl, and ATTWN is obviously somewhat dated in its attitudes, since it was written in 1939. That being said, it’s quite possibly my favorite mystery novel I’ve ever read. (I’m a little surprised at the amount of dislike for it on this thread.)

    7. And then there were none is very short, it won’t last you a whole flight.

And Gone Girl is very irritating being about incredibly unpleasant people.

I’d go for something like Stieg Larsson’s Girl with a Dragon Tattoo rather.
