Ella Enchanted. I am a 37 year old woman. Love it.
Also, a Nora Roberts contemporary romance trilogy. The Gallaghers of Ardmore. It’s cheesy, all 3 books have conflicts that can be resolved by a simple conversation that none of the characters have the ability to do, but still one of the only romance novels (actually labeled as romance) that I will actually willingly read.
Book 1: Woman’s life collapses around her so she heads off to Ireland to find her roots and herself, and meets the oldest Gallagher sibling. Roberts uses her favorite main character trope: Woman moves to Ireland, gets a dog, and becomes an author. (At least 3 different characters in her books have this plot.)
Book 2: basically Love has Been in Front of You All Along with the 2nd Gallagher sibling.
Book 3: Outwardly materialist woman with a heart of gold meets her match in the down-to-earth stubborn rich man who can spoil her (with love). 3rd Gallagher sibling.
Seriously cheesy. Not a trilogy I actually recommend to anyone who doesn’t love cheesy romance novels. But something about it just gives me joy. No idea why. I haven’t searched out romance novels since I was in my early 20s.
