I’m going on holiday soon for 2 weeks and am hoping that it will involve lots of lazing around by a pool / on a beach reading, so need 3 or 4 paperbacks to take with me. Looking for literary fiction that is not too heavy-going and has some great characters I can get hooked into, not fluffy romances or pulp crime books, but also not James Joyce or Dostoevsky and no historical epics or science fiction please! I’m thinking along the lines of Donna Tartt, Ann Patchett, Zadie Smith kind of vibe (but I’ve read all their books already)
