In my opinion, Adams' greatest work is Last Chance to See. This non-fiction book records the trips Adams took around the world, together with zoologist Mark Carwardine, in order to visit various critically endangered species and observe them in their natural habitats. Last Chance to See not only displays Adams' funniest writing, but also his most introspective and poignant.
If you haven't read this book and you are a fan of Hitchhiker's or Dirk Gently, it's a must-read in my opinion.
