I feel like I’m incredibly picky about books I read.
The cover needs to suit my taste, the title of the book needs to be fine, the summary on the back needs to sounds interesting and if the first couple pages of the reading sample don’t sound interesting I’m not giving it a chance.
There are SO many books out there and yet my tbr is only ~10 books long cuz so many books feel uninteresting and I hate that. I want to read more but being super picky doesn’t help. If I had enough money to spare I wouldn’t even care that much. I don’t want to spend money on books and end up not liking them..
EDIT: Forgot to mention the genre. I don’t read many genres cuz lots of them feel boring to me so that minimizes my pool of potential books as well

Yeah, I’m also very picky on what books I like to read. (It’s mainly realistic fiction by the way.)
Every moment you spend doing something is a moment you can’t spend doing something better. Reading an uninteresting book is literally killing you slowly.
I would try to find commonalities in the books you do like and seek more of those out. Maybe a genre you like but in a different time period or vice versa.
You don’t have to spend money on books, just go to the library
