I want to read/listen the books but need some help

So back in the day I read the first book and I loved every flipping second of it. But not long after I have a heart-lung embolism and was even dead for about a minute. Spent a long time in the hospital, then went home to recover and now I do have an aphasia that mostly effects my speech and I'm overwhelmed much quicker when there are loud voices or too many voices. But still I feel like I'm missing out on a lot by not reading the books. I do have an audiobook subscription so that would be even better. I'm just wondering:

-Do you miss out on a lot if you don't read the books? (With the first book I definitely thought that was the case).
-Do you have to read them in order?
-What book/storyline did you enjoy most?

Maybe some tips? I don't know, maybe you know something more than I do haha.

They definitely need to go in order. I liked Benedict’s book best.

I didn’t listen to audiobooks so I couldn’t tell ya if you miss out on a lot that way.

The books are great. I find I miss so much with audiobooks. It kinda turns into white noise and then I have no idea what’s going on. But that’s just me. They do sort of refer to previous siblings but the stories do stand alone pretty well. Francesca is my fave story. It addressed some neat plots that you don’t really see a lot in romance. Especially period romance.

    3. Some of my favorite books I have only listened via auidobook! As a busy mom I find that audiobooks are the only way I can get any reading done in this phase of my life. While I love reading physical books, audiobooks are another way to absorb the story. There are too many books in the world to let the way I intake it get in the way.

    4. I’m sorry to hear about what you went through. I hope you’re able to make a full recovery.

I listened to the audiobooks and thought they were fantastic. I don’t think you will lose anything by choosing audio vs print or vice versa. The books have more depth than the Netflix series, but I enjoyed both for different reasons.

Yes, they should ideally be read in order. Each book follows a different sibling and you will sometimes revisit a previous scene from another sibling’s perspective. Also, the background drama with members of the ton and mystery about Lady Whistledown flow better that way.

My favorites were Daphne’s story (The Duke and I), Colin’s story (Romancing Mr. Bridgerton) and Franchesca’s story (When He Was Wicked).

There are a few changes between the books and the Netflix series, most of which I didn’t mind. My only tip is to either read all the books before watching the series or vice versa, and think of them as separate things with their own merits.

      Enjoy!
