Few weeks ago in English class we were reading a gothic poem and I enjoyed it and have always been a fan of that kinda style of movies but I want to know/start reading actual gothic books, any that you guys could recommend me?
Not really familiar with this genre but the 2 books I’ve read and liked are haunting of hill house and turn of the screw.
Both have also been adapted into 2 amazing Netflix shows, if you’re interested

*Bluebeard’s Castle* by Anna Biller recently came out. So did *Vampires of El Norte* by Isabel Canas, but I’d say it’s more romance/horror than gothic. *A House with Good Bones* by T. Kingfisher also fits, but it’s romance lite.
You should check out Shirley Jackson for more contemporary gothic books, but some foundational gothic books are The Castle of Otranto, Vathek, and The Monk.

This is my favorite genre!!!!!!!!
I keep coming here and suggesting The Silent Companion by Laura Purcell because it is so gothic and amazing. Also the classics like Frankenstein, The Vampyre and The Castle of Otranto. Also HEAR ME OUT, I personally love Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, I feel like this is her making fun of gothic literature, but it’s still really good and a cozy read.
