Seems a fairly standard theme – I can think of Faust and all kinds of contract with a devil plots, probably The Remains of The Day is also about contract and loyalty. There is usually some price a protoganist pays for keeping up with a contract or a bargain, but equally there is a price for not following the agreed contract or deal. What are the books that are centered around some agreement and demonstrate the consequences? Many thanks in advance.
