hello! i'm looking for book recommendations on the french colonial presence in the americas, especially in the northeast.
i'm from new england and live in maryland so i'm very familiar with the english colonisation there and england's relationship with indigenous communities in those areas. i know france controlled a good chunk of the northeast for a long time, but only learnt about it in passing. all my local history classes tended to focus on the english because that's who had the biggest impact in mass / md, and all my french history classes really downplayed « France Being An Exorbitantly Wealthy Empire. » ( go figure. ) please hit my line if you know of any books which cover french colonialism in north america, france's relationship with indigenous north americans, the fur trade, or all of the above, in detail. thank you!
( ps: accounts by indigenous people are especially appreciated and i speak french, so they don't have to be in english! )
