not sure whether it was the pressure that did it, but i’ve not been able to pick up a book since the day i graduated. not even made it past the first page. i want to start reading again. i want to remember why i loved this so much i decided to make it my life. feel very lost. i don’t know what i’m looking for, so no specific genres in mind. something that i won’t want to put down. something that might remind me why i thought i wanted to devote my life to literature. i will be more grateful than you know

    1. I could be wrong, but I equate this to having a hobby and trying to make it a side job/career. I’m a woodworker, and when I started doing commission pieces it made me anxious and pressured so I quit woodworking for a time. So I took a short break, then I started making things I liked to make again. I started off simple, making cutting boards and whatever I actually enjoyed making. Now I’m back to more complicated projects that are hard but fulfilling. So maybe an easy sci-fi book? Maybe a good but uncomplicated book like lonesome dove?

    2. My only reliable way to break a slump is to reread a book I loved, preferably an old one I haven’t picked up in a while. Childhood favorites almost always work because they’re easy to speed through, and then I’m back in it! Wishing you luck
