There’s a nonfiction book called Exiled in America: Life on the Margins in a Residential Motel. It focuses on a single motel used by homeless people who stay there because it’s cheaper than renting.
Unfortunately, the book is expensive. They had it at my library but otherwise it’s like 30 bucks.
