Hello all!!
I’m in the middle of writing a story that takes place in London, 1990’s (in particular ‘93, but honestly this bit doesn’t matter much). As an American, I’m relying pretty heavily on British media from around that time to get the hang of sayings and the speech patterns people would have used, but I don’t want to make just one giant stereotype that completely loses any sense of realism. So I was hoping to get a few novels from around this time period to read and study for patterns in speech and what the general culture would have been like back then! The characters in my story are in their 20’s, so young adult novels are preferred, but I’ll take pretty much anything. If there’s a novel written fairly recently, but set in the 90’s, I’ll also take that (as long as it’s somewhat authentic).
(As a bonus, if anyone can suggest any other types of media that may help, it would be greatly appreciated!! I started watching The Word to help with familiarizing myself on topics that younger people would have talked about/been interested in at that time.)
