I loved chronicles of narnia at her age and you can get some really beautiful editions of the series! Also the famous five and mallory towers!

Tamora Pierce’s books would be great for her. I’d start with The Circle Opens.

Roald Dahl is another strong choice, including his memoir of his younger years “Boy.”

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is essential reading ☺️

I’d also suggest Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman when she’s a couple of years older.

Try books by Stephanie Burgis, Jessica Day George, Shannon Hale, and Christina Soontornvat

    4. My 9 year old is currently digging Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire. She liked Charlotte’s Web and The Wolves of Willoughby Chase in terms of classics. She’s enjoyed some Goosebumps and Animorphs. Coraline was a hit, too.

The Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend. The fourth one’s due out next year, and they are absolutely spectacular. If she likes Harry Potter, she’ll probably like these. They’re about a girl who’s cursed to die on her 11th birthday, but whisked away to a hidden magical city in order to outrun the curse.

Amari and the Night Brothers is the start to a fun urban fantasy series, I think of it as being sort of like Men in Black for kids, and the writing is really stellar.

    6. At her age, I especially loved stories about Sherlock Holmes, Astrid Lindgren books, collections of fairy tales from around the world, and also mythology: Greek, Scandinavian, and Egyptian.
