I really liked Homegoing, Flowers for Algernon, Story of Your Life, and TPODG. I know they’re quite different, but those are books/novellas/short stories that have changed my life. Looking to get back into reading after a rough school year, and I want to feel something.

I really hated The Alchemist, so please do not recommend that one.

I feel like East of Eden by Steinbeck changed my life this way. I’d say it’s a bit historical and a bit philosophical. I also hated the Alchemist so hopefully we’re on the same wavelength.

If you are interested in non-fiction, Disposable People by Kevin Bales.

Rings of Saturn. I think it’s 100% what you describe. It’s not science fiction.

    4. fiction: Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

      non-fiction: Humankind by Rutger Bregman

    5. Beartown Triology by Frederik Backman. There ia a lot to think about and to reflect .

To be honest, any of his books
