I am looking for books with weird/disordered relationships with food. This can range from intense emotions around eating (e.g. Women Eating) to food as a descriptive mechanism for emotions (e.g. Piglet).

My prefered categories are fiction and women's fiction (with feminist elements) – I've heard great things about Milk Fed and A Certain Hunger, both of which feature both eating and womanhood prominently.

I personally have a difficult and emotional relationship with food and find narratives that focus on the emotional relationship that we humans have to the food we consume really thought provoking and creative.

I am open to non-fictions books and recommendations that have a darkered edge, such as disordered relationships with food or horror elements (e.g. cannibalism – A Certain Hunger and vampirism – Woman Eating).

    Thank you for your recommendations!

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb. A coming of age story about a girl with BED. HIGHLY recommend. I still think about this book.
