    Hi all!

I'm looking for a location-based book (not necessarily travelogue, but also open to that) that delves into a place's culture as defined by the social milieu or time period. It would also ideally involve characters grappling with identity-based questions like queerness, race, ethnicity, etc. Bonus points if it's not in the US, but also not opposed.

Some books I've liked recently are Giovanni's Room (James Baldwin), Goodbye to Berlin (Christopher Isherwood), Swimming in the Dark (Tomasz Jedrowski), On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous (Ocean Vuong), The Idiot (Elif Batuman), Things Fall Apart (Chinua Achebe), Who Killed My Father (Édouard Louis) and Americanah (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie).

What's on my list for the future? White Teeth (Zadie Smith), Blessings (Chukwuebah Ibeh)

    Thanks 🙂
