Books like Slewfoot and The Familiar?

Not sure how similar these books really are, but I just finished The Familiar (Bardugo) and something about a mysterious immortal building up another person who has magic is just my jam haha it reminded me of Slewfoot (Brom), which I loved just as much. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!
