We’re looking for a new book or two for reading together before bed. My daughter is a prolific reader, and she enjoys fantasy quite a bit. Some examples of things we’ve read and really enjoyed include:
The full Harry Potter series
Full Narnia series
BFG
The Hobbit
Matilda
Many thanks for any recommendations!

Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini – fantasy series with dragons and dragon riders
Kiki’s Delivery Service by Eiko Kadono.
Watership Down! It’s wonderful to read aloud, and if she’d liked Narnia she’ll probably love it.
[Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend! I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s my favorite series even as an adult, and the only one that makes me feel the way the Harry Potter books used to.
I love literature for this age! Especially series books that you can really sink into. Here are my recommendations:
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making (first book in the Fairyland series)
Inkheart series (if she ever dreams about jumping into her favorite books and living them out, she’ll LOVE this series!)
The Bookwanderers series (another favorite if you ever wanted to jump into the pages!)
Percy Jackson series
Dealing With Dragons series
The Dark Unicorn
A Wrinkle In Time series
Bridge to Terebithia
Wizard of Oz series
Phoenix Rising (Book 1 of Elementals series)
Hook’s Daughter (Pirate Princess Chronicles)
Harriet the Spy
Nancy Drew Mysteries
Pippi Longstocking series
Enola Holmes mystery books (Sherlock’s little sister!)
Nevermoor series
That ought to be enough to get you started! Seriously, this is the BEST age for reading!
Redwall series, The Phantom Tollbooth, Graveyard Book and Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Percy Jackson series for sure!
Tamora Pierce specifically the Alanna books. A tween girl pretends to be a boy in order to train to be a knight. Follows her from 10-11 all the way to adulthood. Song of the Lioness is 4 books.
Abarat by Clive Barker (yes he usually writes horror but this series is YA). Portal fantasy about an 11 year old girl from Minnesota who gets whisked away to a fantastical world. Try to find a hardcover edition if you can. The art is amazing. Three books out. But hopefully we’ll get the remaining books eventually.
Percy Jackson is always a great pick by Rick Riordan. Greek mythology.
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. Fairies plus James Bond essentially. 7 or 8 books I think. His other books are also really good.
The series of unfortunate events by Lemony Snicket might interest her. Three children are left orphaned after the death of their parents. The misadventures as they try to find a home. (The Netflix adaptation is very good)
The Immortal secretary of Nicholas Flamel starting with the Alchemyst by Micheal Scott. A pair of teenage fraternal twins (a boy and a girl) end up on a fantastical cross country adventure with magic and mythical monsters from across the various pantheons. There are 6 or 7 books? It’s complete though.
Look into Brandon Mull’s books
Fablehaven is his most well known series, but Beyonders was written a little later in his writing career and a bit more refined. Both are very imaginative fantasy
