So I'm watching The Sopranos finally and I'm loving how realistic the plot feels so far. That being said, I'm realizing I've never read a good account of actual Mafia family history that wasn't mythologizing the concept in a way things like The Sopranos, Godfather, etc do.
I'm a bit of a history buff so if I take the time to read something on the Mafia I'd like it to be historically accurate above all else. I guess what I really want to avoid is something that romaticizes it while also not bending over backward to condemn it (I already know murdering people and selling drugs and such is bad, I don't need a book to remind me).
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
