I graduated from college some time ago and while I am enjoying my newfound freedom I am beginning to miss learning and all it was doing for me. My brain feels unpracticed and sluggish and I consume far too much brainrot content. I want to motivate myself to get back into reading, and things like lists and little goals really help me feel a sense of reward. For that reason I am assembling a small canon of some of the greatest fiction and nonfiction books based on the entirely arbitrary criteria of my own personal taste 🙂 Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.
I am most interested in historical and religious literature, speculative fiction and horror, health and self improvement nonfiction, and books about being a woman.
As a sample, some of my favorite writers are Dostoyevsky, Cormac Mcarthy, Murakami, Hunter S. Thompson and Joan Didion.
