I’ve been obsessed with this myth for a long, long while, because I find it one of the most profound and though-provoking religious stories in whole world history – I think about it almost all the time, which is why I devoured every single text about it I could find:
• Naturally, John Milton’s Paradise Lost
• J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion
• Ray of the Microcosm, epic poem by Montenegrin Prince-Bishop Peter II Petrović-Njegoš
• Lucifer, a play by Dutch poet Joost van den Vondel
These are the four I could find, and was…quite surprised I couldn’t find more, at least by simple research. So I, instead, ask everyone of you: what pieces of literature (whether plays, poems, novels; whether modern or classic(though classic is preferred)) do you know that retell this story, each in its own way, besides these four that I have named
Also, each from these come from three cultural sources: English (Milton and Tolkien), Dutch (Vondel) and Serbian (Njegoš), so I wonder if there are any beside English writers/poets who wrote about this.
Thank you in advance!
