My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few years ago and has struggled with the fear of death ever since. She’s been comfortable discussing the subject, so I’d like to get a couple books for her to read if she’s open to it.
She’s never been a very religious person, but I think a lot of her fear stems from the afterlife that Christianity teaches, specifically the possibility of Hell. I’m not familiar with the afterlife teachings of other religions, if there are any that paint death in a more “positive” way, I think she would appreciate learning about them.
Additionally, if anyone has suggestions on coping with the inevitable, I’d like to read some for myself. It still hasn’t sunk in for me, and I don’t want my emotions to hit all at once after the fact.
