Wrapping up the fourth week of this summer class and we’ve covered roughly four pieces of work over the last four weeks: The Odyssey, Oedipus the King, Candide, and Frankenstein.
Signed up for this class to finish the core of my degree plan and I think I’ve found a new passion! Would love any recommendations similar to these that you guys have also enjoyed.

The Oresteia-trilogy by Aeschylus, Medea and The Bacchae by Euripides, and the three Theban Plays by Sophocles (you’ve already read Oedipus Rex) for Greek drama. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, and The Great God Pan by Arthur Machen for 19th century Frankenstein-like literature.

To add Chinese literature to your reading list, pick up an abridged translation of Journey to the West, first published in 1592.
Penguin Classics has an abridged version under the title “Monkey”, translated by Arthur Waley. That’s the one I’ve read.
There’s a newer abridged translation by Anthony Yu under the title “The Monkey and the Monk”.
