I have a hard time pinning down a genre I like. I have liked: Normal people. Everything written by Betty Smith. Rainbow Rowell (but not simon snow). Graphic novel memoirs by Lucy Knisley. I suppose I like memoir, historical fiction and time travel, but only if I get inside the characters' heads. I go through phases of reading romance but usually hit a wall when it gets too predictable or cheesy. Help me!

If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard. It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
Fun Home by Alison Bechdel, Once Upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire, Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall, I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy, Impossible People by Julia Wertz, Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, Everything I Learned I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant by Curtis Chin, Love Loss and What We Ate Padma Lakshmi, Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters
