I live downtown in a small city and have noticed the number of homeless skyrocket in the past three years. Sleeping in parks, entryways to businesses, etc. They leave piles of trash all over the place and harass people passing by, having dinner, walking their dog.
Because of these experiences, and as you've likely noticed, I've come to have a negative view of homeless people. I don't want to be hateful and want to learn more about this crisis, what got us here, solutions, and other related topics. It's kind of an exercise in compassion and challenging myself to go beyond initial gut reactions.
I try to read books from opposing POVs when researching topics so am hoping to do something similar here. So any and all book recommendations are welcome!
