Bit of a broad question but I'm looking for high-quality African or South American historical fiction, preferably more modern history (19th century and onwards). I'd like the book to have a heavy focus on historical accuracy, so that I can learn something while reading. I've realised that my understanding of both South American and African history is very flawed and eurocentric, so I'm trying to change that. I read Half of a Yellow Sun earlier this year and really liked it, but it also made me realise how oblivious I am of many major historical events.
Thanks already for any suggestions!
