I have a foster child in a boy’s foster home (group home), and he likes to read (Ender’s Game, bible). I am looking for suggestions on books that a high schoolers could read to help them realize they can overcome the past. It doesn’t have to be about parental or foster care abuse, just a good story that will make him think about his future.
He is a bright and tough kid who wants more in life, so I am trying to give him nuggets to help him. Anything that’s an uplifting story of someone who has faced challenges in life but didn’t let that bring them down and overcomes the internal pains and developed themself to become successful.
