Interesting aliens and generally lighthearted tone

Bobiverse, Project Hail Mary, and Black Ocean: Galaxy Outlaws are perfect examples of what I'm looking for

I liked The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet well enough, but it was a bit more slice-of-life than I generally prefer

I didn't really enjoy Expeditionary Force, largely because I found Skippy to be annoying
